⏺️ Zimria Festivale Atlanta — Hope & Remembrance: The World of Jewish Music
The William Baker Choral Foundation invites you to Zimria Festivale Atlanta — Hope & Remembrance: The World of Jewish Music — an extraordinary concert of choral music celebrating Jewish heritage, held in the Epstein Sanctuary of Congregation Ahavath Achim Synagogue.
The scope of music having Jewish heritage and themes, and by Jewish composers and lyricists, is vast — spanning centuries, religious traditions, countries, languages, liturgical uses, and changing popular styles. This concert brings that breadth to life with a program that includes:
- Liturgical works — both well-known and contemporary interpretations
- Works based on biblical texts and themes
- Songs of the Holocaust by Atlanta composer William Dreyfoos
- Popular works from Broadway and film by 20th-century Jewish American composers
- A rare collection of beautiful songs from the Jewish Baroque period in Amsterdam in the 1700s — some never before heard in the U.S.
Dr. William Baker, Music Director
Dr. Thomas Dixon, Associate Music Director
