The Great Big Recycling Event ⏺️

November 3, 2024 @ 9:00 am1:30 pm

Start collecting your unwanted, hard-to-recycle items for the fall Great Big Recycling Event! The AA Greening Group will take these items to CHaRM (the Center for Hard to Recycle Materials) for you, keeping harmful contaminants out of landfills.

Please bring only the items listed below to the Synagogue's upper parking lot. Greening Group volunteers will help you unload and collect fees and donations (always welcomed).

  • Styrofoam (e.g., old coolers, appliance packing; no packing peanuts)
  • Small appliances
  • Computers and monitors ($20 per item)
  • Electric cords, batteries (no alkaline), and chargers
  • Fluorescent bulb tubes ($1 per bulb)
  • CDs and CD cases (separated; no paper covers or inserts)
  • Plastic pill bottles (with recycling numbers 1, 2, or 5)
  • Glass bottles (clean and dry; no lids)
  • Books (hardback or paperback)
  • Plastic bags (ones that stretch like grocery bags; no crackly bags or bubble plastic)
  • Plastic film (filmy white or clean food service like Saran wrap)
  • Plastic containers (with triangular recycle numbers 1, 2, 4, 5, or 6)
  • Household chemicals (e.g., herbicides, pesticides, bug spray, drain cleaner)
  • Scrap metals

Fall specials! The Greening Group will allow the collection of the following items for the fall event:

  • Walking/running shoes (to be given to unhoused people to protect their feet in winter)
  • Special information table—What should I do with all my plastic? Is it recyclable or not? How? Allow our expert volunteers to give you some guidance and tips.
