mAAc Meets: Movie Discussion — To Dust

Members of our Mature Active Adult Community (mAAc) are invited to a movie discussion on the film To Dust. A grief-stricken Hasidic widower enlists an unwitting biology teacher in an obsessive struggle to make peace with his loss and grasp the mortality of the flesh. Mourning the death of his cancer-stricken wife, Shmuel (Géza Röhrig) can't find solace in the meticulous burial rituals of his Upstate New York Orthodox community. Haunted by disturbing dreams, and consumed with the decomposition process, he seeks out an incredulous biology professor Albert (Matthew Broderick), to learn how the interred body will decay. The bumbling odd couple teams up in a clandestine, increasingly blasphemous search for catharsis, reaching absurd extremes. mAAc members are asked to watch the film prior to the program.
