SUMMARY:Scholar-in-Residence with Rabbi David Goodman ⏺️
DESCRIPTION:Join us for an evening of learning\, connection\, and reminiscence as we welcome Rabbi David Goodman\, grandson of the beloved Rabbi Arnold Goodman (z"l)\, who served as Rabbi of Ahavath Achim Synagogue from 1982–2002. Together\, we'll honor his legacy through reflection\, connection\, and inspired learning. \nThe evening's topic of discussion will be Resilience and Renewal: Rabbi Akiva's Legacy After Tragedy. After the tragic loss of 24\,000 students\, Rabbi Akiva faced a crossroads. Rather than yielding to despair\, he chose to rebuild—with just five new students who would go on to shape the future of Jewish life and learning. Together\, we'll explore how this ancient story continues to offer profound guidance on perseverance\, purpose\, and the enduring power of renewal. \nRabbi David Goodman serves as rabbi of Moreshet Avraham\, a vibrant Masorti community in Jerusalem\, where he shares the pulpit with his wife and partner\, Rabbi Amirit Rosen. A passionate educator and thinker\, he is currently pursuing advanced research in Jewish Philosophy at Haifa University\, focusing on the evolution of religious thought in the 21st century. In addition to his rabbinic leadership\, Rabbi Goodman is deeply engaged in cultural and interfaith initiatives that foster dialogue\, understanding\, and mutual respect across communities. He proudly serves on the board of Rabbis for Human Rights and brings his love of teaching—and learning—to diverse settings throughout Israel and beyond. \nThe event is free to attend\, but registration is required by Thursday\, May 22. The location of the event is at a private residence—The address will be sent upon registration. \nQuestions? Contact Rabbi Laurence Rosenthal (lrosenthal@aasynagogue.org; 404.603.5744). \n Register
