SUMMARY:The Spring Great Big Recycling Event
DESCRIPTION:How can we repurpose or responsibly recycle items that can't go into our regular recycling?\nHow can we keep harmful contaminants out of landfills?\nWe'll help you!\nBring your recyclables to the Spring GBRE on Sunday\, May 3.\n\nOpen to AA Synagogue members and participants of the JWV Blood Drive\n\nAA Greening Group volunteers will help you unload and take most items to CHaRM (the Center for Hard to Recycle Materials) for you! \n\nwww.livethrive.org/charm\n\nWe will accept ONLY the items listed below. Please note that many items have charges. We will weigh what you bring. Remember – real humans sort your recyclables. So please be respectful! \n\nStyrofoam: e.g. coolers\, appliance packaging\, clean\, bagged\nSmall appliances (55 cents per pound)\nTV's and monitors ($25.00 each)\nElectronics\, electric cords\, batteries (NO alkaline) and chargers (55 cents per pound)\nFluorescent bulb tubes: ($1.00 fee each)\nPlastic pill bottles (with recycling numbers 1\, 2\, or 5)\nGlass bottles\, clean and dry\, no lids (35 cents per pound)\nBooks: Hardback or paperback\nPlastic bags: Clean bags that stretch like grocery bags (but not crackly ones)\nPlastic film (filmy white or CLEAN food service like Saran wrap)\nPlastic containers: With triangular recycle sign # 1\, 2\, 4\, 5 or 6. Must be clean\, empty and dry! Not smelly!\nSoda cans (clean and dry – rinse out sugared sodas!) These are super valuable for recycling!\nHousehold chemicals: Herbicides\, pesticides\, bug spray\, drain cleaner etc. (85 cents per pound)\nScrap metals\n\nEXTRA! EXTRA! Spring GBRE EXTRA! \nWe are collecting bicycles that can be refurbished and given away.\nWe'll deliver them to a non-profit called Global Spokes (globalspokes.info). Global Spokes supports various organizations that help refugees as well as individuals who really\, really need transportation. Their volunteers repair used bikes and then donate them. Every bike that is donated by Global Spokes comes with a helmet\, lock\, and safety lights. Wow! The bikes must be repairable – no busted plastic Big Wheels\, and not the twisted bike that got run over in your driveway. \nContact us if you need someone to collect your bike\, or bring it to the GBRE on May 3. We'll do the rest! Thank you for participating in this mitzvah! \nQuestions? Call or text June Neumark at 404-213-7540\, Patsy Little at 770-823-7609\, or Myrtle Lewin at 404-409-3169.
