SUMMARY:Kesher (Pre-K–6th Grade) ⏺️
DESCRIPTION:Kesher is Hebrew for "connection\," and connection is at the center of everything we do. Kesher is Ahavath Achim Synagogue's Jewish school program for children Pre-K through 6th grade. \nThe Kesher program meshes Jewish holidays and values and children's interests into a child-centered\, project-based curriculum. We believe in teaching children to view relationships and interactions with others and the environment through the lens of ten Jewish values. We create confident and curious Jewish learners in a safe space where they can take risks\, question\, play\, learn\, explore\, engage\, create\, make meaning\, and love. We foster the child's sense of Jewish self-discovery by providing a nurturing environment where each person can explore and create their own identity. \nThe Kesher program is generously endowed by the Judith and Aaron z"l Alembik Ahavath Achim Youth Education Program.

SUMMARY:Nesiah (7th–9th Grade) ⏺️
DESCRIPTION:Nesiah\, Hebrew for "journey\," is Ahavath Achim Synagogue's on-the-move program for 7th through 9th-grade students. Nesiah runs on a triennial curriculum\, each year exploring a defining era in Jewish history and culminating with a memorable trip. The curriculum is uniquely designed to the needs of day school students and public-school students alike. As students gain a greater understanding of our shared Jewish history\, they also learn more about their own identities and their families' stories. \nThe Nesiah program is generously endowed by the Judith and Aaron z"l Alembik Ahavath Achim Youth Education Program.

SUMMARY:Blessing of the Animals ⏺️
DESCRIPTION:Bring your dogs\, cats\, birds\, lizards\, or other animals to receive a special blessing from the Rabbi to start the New Year! Join us for this relaxed get-together as we welcome pets of all shapes and sizes (leashed or in a carrier) for a blessing symbolizing our appreciation for the joy and companionship they bring into our lives. Bring a photograph or a cherished memento if your pet cannot attend. During the week\, our Jewish tradition studies the Torah portion of Noah\, when we honor the animals saved from the flood and Noah and his family who saved them. \nWe'll have goody bags for your pets\, some noshes for the humans\, and pet-related vendors\, including a dog trainer ready to share tips for bringing out the best in your dog. Of course\, this is a chance to meet and share stories with fellow pet parents. We look forward to seeing you and your furry\, feathered\, or scaly friends at this joyful gathering! \nThis event is free to attend\, and registration is not required. \nQuestions? Contact Barbara Marks (bcm1616@yahoo.com).

SUMMARY:One Year Commemoration of the October 7 Massacre in Israel ⏺️
DESCRIPTION:On October 7\, 2023\, Israel endured the deadliest attack on Jewish people in a single day since the Holocaust. On Simchat Torah\, a celebratory holiday of our Jewish heritage and pride\, Hamas terrorists breached the southern Gaza border and took 1\,200 innocent lives. There are still more than 100 hostages still in Gaza from more than eight different nations\, showing that this is not just a Jewish or Israeli issue. It is an issue of humanity. And we must stand together to find comfort\, support\, and healing. \nIsrael remains a focal point in our work and community efforts. In light of recent events and the ongoing captivity of hostages\, we are committed to supporting those affected alongside our overseas partners. As we continue these vital efforts\, we must look forward and consider how we\, as a community\, will come together to mark the tragic events of October 7. Remembering is a fundamental aspect of Jewish tradition\, and we must honor those who lost their lives while remaining vigilant in safeguarding our freedom to practice our faith. \nThe Israeli government established an annual national day of remembrance on the Hebrew date of the 24th of Tishrei. For the first anniversary of this tragedy\, an additional ceremony will be held on the Gregorian date of October 7. Here in Atlanta\, the Jewish Federation of Greater Atlanta is organizing two significant community events to observe these dates: the Gregorian anniversary on October 7 and the Hebrew anniversary on October 27. Join AA and many Jewish Atlanta organizations for these meaningful events. \nThe event on October 27 is an experiential and educational program. It will feature an expo of ways to engage with Israel\, educational sessions led by community experts\, hands-on activities\, and a ceremony honoring the victims. \nRegistration is required to attend these events (links below). \n Register for October 7\n Register for October 27
