SUMMARY:Kesher (Pre-K–6th Grade) ⏺️
DESCRIPTION:Kesher is Hebrew for "connection\," and connection is at the center of everything we do. Kesher is Ahavath Achim Synagogue's Jewish school program for children Pre-K through 6th grade. \nThe Kesher program meshes Jewish holidays and values and children's interests into a child-centered\, project-based curriculum. We believe in teaching children to view relationships and interactions with others and the environment through the lens of ten Jewish values. We create confident and curious Jewish learners in a safe space where they can take risks\, question\, play\, learn\, explore\, engage\, create\, make meaning\, and love. We foster the child's sense of Jewish self-discovery by providing a nurturing environment where each person can explore and create their own identity. \nThe Kesher program is generously endowed by the Judith and Aaron z"l Alembik Ahavath Achim Youth Education Program.

SUMMARY:Israel and Antisemitism: Facts\, Lies\, and Myths in the Media ⏺️
DESCRIPTION:You+2 and AA's Response to Antisemitism and Hate Committee welcome you\, extended family\, and friends of all faiths who stand with the Jewish people and Israel to join us for a panel discussion on antisemitism\, Israel\, and media coverage. The program will feature a conversation with three panelists\, including Anat Sultan-Dadon (Consul General of Israel)\, Dov Wilker (Regional Director\, American Jewish Committee)\, and Josh Levs (Award-Winning Broadcast Journalist\, Fact-Checker\, and Host of They Stand Corrected Podcast)\, moderated by Lisa Cohen (Journalist and Media Consultant). \nThis event is free\, but registration is required (form linked below). \nQuestions? Contact youplustwoevents@gmail.com or Nancy Levine (nlevine2660@gmail.com). \n Register\nEvent Co-Chairs: Margie Eden\, Brandon Goldberg\, and Annice Parker\nHost Committee: Allison Feldman\, Jody and Ramon Franco\, Rita and Arthur Bodner\, Linda and Richard Bressler\, Margo and Larry Gold\, Eve Goldstein\, Valerie Habif\, Gail and Lyons Heyman\, Vicki and Steve Morris\, Marcia Spielberger\, Sue Winner\, Rina Wolfe\, and Jill Vantosh \n— \n\nYou+2 was created by a group of Jewish women who came together in solidarity after the horrific events in Israel on October 7\, 2023. There was a commonality that they were all unexpectedly experiencing… They were all receiving messages from friends who were not Jewish asking: "How are you doing? How can we support you\, Israel\, and the Jewish people? How can we learn more about what is going on in Israel?" From these genuine concerns and real-time questions\, You+2 was born. You+2 will educate and bridge an understanding to promote dialogue about Jewish/Israel's history\, the Israel-Hamas war\, and local and worldwide antisemitism amongst people of all faiths. You+2 began with the idea of "You Bring Two Friends" of a different faith to the first event\, and since then\, You+2 has been blessed to evolve into something more far-reaching and encompassing throughout the Atlanta area. \nAA's Response to Antisemitism and Hate Committee is working to increase awareness and understanding of antisemitism among our synagogue community as well as partners from other faith communities through education\, advocacy\, and programming. We strive to educate everyone about the federal and state laws that prohibit antisemitism as well as how to identify and report antisemitic activities that threaten the safety and security of our students and community. We work with faith leaders and diverse communities to increase their awareness of antisemitism and to help fight against antisemitic rhetoric and actions. This will be accomplished through engaging and educational programming including speakers\, panels\, online resources\, and more.
