SUMMARY:Sisterhood Donor Event ⏺️
DESCRIPTION:Celebrate creativity\, connection\, and community at Sisterhood's Donor Event\, L'dor V'dor: From Generation to Generation. This multi-generational event\, hosted by Ahavath Achim Sisterhood\, benefits the Synagogue's Judith and Aaron z"l Alembik Ahavath Achim Youth Education Program. This special afternoon is perfect for mothers\, daughters\, grandmothers\, and friends (suggested age of 10+). \nBring your broken or unused costume jewelry and join us for a guided art project. We'll create something truly meaningful—a new treasured piece of jewelry\, such as a pendant\, pin\, or headband. As a highlight of the event\, we'll also collaborate on a beautiful group painting guided by the talented Judie Jacobs. This unique artwork will be proudly displayed in our Women's Lounge\, a space that Sisterhood helped renovate through generous contributions. While we create\, we'll share stories and memories and exchange jewelry pieces\, celebrating the legacy of passing down traditions and connections from generation to generation. Don't miss this meaningful opportunity to create\, connect\, and support a great cause! \nWe are also collecting donations of costume jewelry to benefit the National Council of Jewish Women (NCJW) Atlanta Section. Each spring\, NCJW Atlanta hosts "Mother's Day Pop-Up Jewelry Shops" in several Title 1 elementary schools\, where students can select gifts for their mothers or caregivers. Your contributions will support this meaningful initiative! \nThe cost to attend is $36 in addition to a donor contribution. The Donor Event is the only time that Ahavath Achim Sisterhood requests that our membership contribute a donation above annual dues. \nThere are two ways to pay: \n\nBy credit card: Fill out the online form (below)\, and choose the option to pay by credit card.\nBy check sent in U.S. mail: Fill out the online form (below)\, and choose the option to pay by check.\n\nThe deadline to register is Friday\, March 21. \nThank you to our Host Committee—Your hard work and dedication are why our event will be a success: Sheila Adelman\, Rachel Avchen\, Lauren Barden\, Betty Behr\, Avital Cohen\, Stacy Fialkow\, Beth Friedman\, Lori Harber\, Rachael Joseph\, Elissa Konter\, Janet Kupshik\, Michelle Lerner\, Nancy Levine\, Mindy Margolis\, Barbara Nathan\, Nikki Novotny\, Sheri Panovka\, Sara Papier\, Brooke Rosenthal\, Nikki Reisman\, Nicole Saidman\, Susan Sandler\, Rebecca Sokol\, and Tamar Stern. \nQuestions? SUMMARY:mAAc at the Fox Theatre—Parade ⏺️
DESCRIPTION:Join the Mature Active Adult Community (mAAc) to see Parade at the Fox Theatre! Parade is a musical with a book by Alfred Uhry and music and lyrics by Jason Robert Brown. The musical dramatizes the 1913 trial of Jewish factory manager Leo Frank\, who was accused and convicted of raping and murdering a thirteen-year-old employee\, Mary Phagan. The trial\, sensationalized by the media\, aroused antisemitic tensions in Atlanta and the U.S. state of Georgia. When Frank's death sentence was commuted to life in prison by the departing Governor of Georgia\, John M. Slaton\, in 1915 due to his detailed review of over 10\,000 pages of testimony and possible problems with the trial\, Leo Frank was transferred to a prison in Milledgeville\, Georgia\, where a lynching party seized and kidnapped him. Frank was taken to Phagan's hometown of Marietta\, Georgia\, and he was hanged from an oak tree. The events surrounding the investigation and trial led to two groups emerging: the revival of the defunct KKK and the birth of the Jewish Civil Rights organization\, the Anti-Defamation League (ADL). \nTickets are $65 per person for mAAc members and $70 for non-mAAc members. Registration is required by Tuesday\, January 28 (form linked below). \nQuestions?\nRegistration: Jackie Nix (jnix@aasynagogue.org; 404.603.5743)\nProgram: Gail Solomon (solgail.627@gmail.com; 404.456.6171) \n Register

SUMMARY:Fast of the Firstborn 🔀
DESCRIPTION:This fast commemorates the salvation of the Israelite firstborns during the Plague of the Firstborn (according to the Book of Exodus\, the tenth of the ten plagues wrought upon Ancient Egypt prior to the Exodus of the Children of Israel). The fast is usually broken at a siyum celebration (typically made at the conclusion of the morning services)\, which creates an atmosphere of rejoicing that overrides the requirement to continue the fast. \nJoin us in Cohen-Kogon Pavilion or via Zoom. \n Join Zoom
