DESCRIPTION:This fast commemorates the salvation of the Israelite firstborns during the Plague of the Firstborn (according to the Book of Exodus\, the tenth of the ten plagues wrought upon Ancient Egypt prior to the Exodus of the Children of Israel). SUMMARY:Yom HaShoah 60th Community-Wide Holocaust Commemoration ⏺️
DESCRIPTION:Join us rain or shine at the Memorial to the Six Million at Greenwood Cemetery as we remember the six million Jews murdered in the Holocaust and the heroism of survivors and rescuers. \nThis year is the 60th anniversary of Atlanta's Memorial to the Six Million. Since its construction was completed in 1965\, it has been a holy place where human ashes from Dachau and bars of soap from Jewish bodies are interred for eternity. It is a place for all to say Kaddish (mourner's prayer) and lay a stone on the tomb or for survivors and their descendants to place a flower on their loved ones' Yahrzeit (memorial) plaques inside the Memorial. As we do each year\, we will honor our Holocaust survivors in attendance. \nThis event is free and open to the public and is jointly sponsored by Eternal Life-Hemshech\, the William Breman Jewish Heritage Museum\, and the Jewish Federation of Greater Atlanta. \nFor more information\, please visit the Eternal Life Hemshech website.

Thank you for helping us honor the memory of those who gave their lives for the State of Israel.\n \nIf you or someone in your community has lost a loved one who fell in service or was a victim of terror\, the Consulate would be honored to include them in the gallery commemoration display and slideshow. Please submit names here by Thursday\, April 17. (Submissions received after this date will be included in next year's ceremony.) \nPlease wear a white shirt to honor the fallen. Please arrive early to allow sufficient time for security screening.
